I can't help but pity Gyeong-do's character

I just can't help it. I hated Gyeong-do from the very beginning, especially for what he did to the ML but reading his backstory, I can't help but pity him. In the beginning, he was just a young teenage boy who needed some proper help or guidance. I can't help but feel how much different he'd have grown up to be if only he had an actual proper adult guiding him. He had just looked up to the dad and even tried to imitate his mannerisms to be more like him. Despite how he'd treated MC and the little brother through the present, it's clear he actually seen them as his actual brothers at one point. When the dad brought Gyeong-do to that nice villa for the first time, he had ACTUALLY mentioned how he wishes the brothers could've come with them too. "I wish Jung-Hae and Jung-Won could've come with us too", he had said.

I know he deserves the punishment for everything he'd done but I can't help but think all these what ifs. What if only the dad wasn't the way he was, maybe the three of them, Jung-Hae, Jung-Won and Gyeong-do would've been actually close? Or maybe if only Gyeong-do had someone else, someone better reach out and help him, maybe he wouldn't have turned out the way he did. Maybe he'd have had a chance to get over his past and live a better life too? His character is pitiful to me for some reason.
