The general plot of the story isn't really misunderstanding because the ml knows that mc is his fated. I would lean it more towards manipulation? Or miscommunication? I feel mixed about the ml, I like the mc, he's flawed but he knows how and why.
I think that when mc learns the truth, it will create a huge fight because mc values his relationships with others so ml using him as an 'experiment' goes against his values. I think its worth waiting on because of the art and the ml is quite unique. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
