I think it's still slightly overdramatized... quickly picking up hot rice and tossing it on the tray wouldn't compromise with your hands, especially since due to the nature of his career, his hands have to be pretty calloused. So it's still funny to me to see all the reactions as if he put his hands in boiling water.
