for rough context (to those who aren’t caught up with novel spoilers), thalia becomes disabled after this incident. and varkas marries her to take responsibility for her injuries (but let’s be honest, he definitely just wanted her to finally be his). thalia gets pregnant but unfortunately loses her baby. she takes in a wolf named khan, who she believes to be her baby reincarnated. shit happens, and thalia dies… varka followed her soon after.
so now we’re currently in a second timeline, back to the time thalia met khan i believe. this time, varkas wakes up as khan. since varkas became khan, he was finally able to see the full picture of thalia’s misery, from her childhood to how she lost her baby. he finally realized how terrible and lonely her life had been, and how he had deeply wronged her.
however, varkhan realizes that everything is playing out exactly how it did during the first timeline. i have a very strong gut feeling that thalia will still die in this timeline despite varkhan’s efforts to save her. BUT i do think there will be a third timeline, where varkas is back in his own body but still with full memories of when he was khan. hopefullyyyy they get their happy ending thalia’s story is depressing enough. i feel like it’d be evil if she didn’t get a happy ending.
