It’s all they know

They are survivors, Yuwon copes with the negative situations by fawning, and Dohun changes the situations through violence/controlling tactics. No one ever taught either of them a better way to handle things, so they continue to use these unhealthy methods they developed/learned in their youth. I don’t excuse Dohun’s violence or controlling tactics, especially when it regards Yuwon, but it’s really the only way he ever learned to change his situation. Yuwon can’t help but make himself the martyr, even when he dislikes himself for it, and so Dohun can’t help but use violence to protect Yuwon in Dohun’s own way. And, there is definitely love there, even though it isn’t expressed in a healthy manner. Dohun lives for Yuwon, all of his decisions and actions are for what he believes is best for Yuwon and his happiness. Yuwon can’t accept Dohun’s love because it’s overbearing and unexplained in Yuwon’s eyes, but it’s the only way Dohun knows how to express it, through heavy emotions/actions. There’s so much untreated mental instability for each of them. They are both navigating things the only way they know how.
