I get what you’re saying, but I still don’t think she’s that smart. Her first time was with the ML, and he repeatedly called her a whore and treated her like trash, yet she still slept with him. And knowing how badly he treated her, she eventually forgives him too. Being observant and asking questions doesn’t automatically make her mentally strong.
no, when i said she was mentally strong, i meant she was mentally strong because even after going through what she went through, she didn’t wallow in her grief and misery. she was neglected, abused, and isolated her entire life by her grandmother and practically everyone else all because she was mixed. her teacher (one of the two people who ever cared for her) died in her arms after her biological father set fire to her home and stole her grandfather’s remains. in this period of turmoil, her grandmother blames her and tells her she needs to find her father (someone she’s never met and has no idea what he looks like) and retrieve her grandfather’s remains. additionally, this is the same night she finds out her mother and father are NOT her parents but actually her grandparents. so she ventures out to sea by herself and arrives in a foreign country where she doesn’t even know the value of currency. and the same night she arrives, she’s drugged and almost raped. i would say she’s pretty mentally strong. we can tell she has some form of trauma or a stress disorder because she gets anxious when she’s alone but she doesn’t let it define her. she doesn’t know anything about this country? instead of locking herself in her room, she takes the initiative to explore and learn what the standards are in this foreign nation. that’s why i think she’s mentally strong.
in regards to the ml calling her a whore and she still sleeps with him. i viewed it as a transaction. it wasn’t sex because of love. she doesn’t love him, although i do believe she’s interested in him but she needs to stay by his side? why? because she knows as long as she’s with him, she’ll find her father. how does she know that? because her teacher (who was a special agent as we are shown) told her the wolf (the ml) will do whatever it takes to hunt her father down. she needs to find her father and get her grandfather’s remains. it definitely sucks that the ml is a pos but i didn’t view it as a “she’s getting insulted but she loves him so she goes thru with it” kind of moment. more so a “i need to sleep with him to get what i need” and also, it wasn’t like she slept with him because she’s naive and fell for him. we saw her hesitating if sleeping with him was the right thing but ultimately, she decides to because of the memory of her grandfather. he was the only one who cared for her so he is her motive for everything.
i can’t speak for the future cus i haven’t read the novel which was why i was hopping for a groveling arc. that said, if she does forgive him easily, that would be a shame. sorry for yapping lmao, i get a little passionate. this is just my opinion tho
i’m actually very invested in the plot and the revenge from both sides. i feel like we just skipped over her dad stealing her fucking grandfather’s remains too quickly? HELLO?? THATS FUCKING INSANE!
i’m very curious as to what is actually in the safe or locker or whatever it is. i hope it’s not some “the dragon warrior was inside of you all along” type of bs and there is actually something valuable in there.
also, i’m hoping the ml grovels in the future. people are calling the fmc weak and while i do agree, i find her character way more tasteful than other fmcs written like this.
she was isolated all of her life and is practically in a whole different country but she’s not exactly “dumb”. she can read and she asks a lot of questions and she observes a lot as well. i like that it took her several days to get adjusted and i like that she didn’t fall for him immediately (although i wouldn’t say that she’s “in love” with him rn, more like interested).
also, did you guys forget that she’s also lying to him to use him? she needs the ml so she can locate her father and retrieve her grandfather’s remains. she’s listening to her teacher’s last words: how she should be wary of the wolf because he won’t hesitate to go after her either. she knows the ml will do whatever it takes to find her father so she’s using him to get what she wants as well. and to do that, she needs to stay by his side. i can agree that she’s weak because she is physically weak but homegirl is a lot stronger than you all are mentally.
