I really enjoyed this manwha and I was expecting the others to enjoy it the same but upon reading, I can see that some people are agreeing that this ending could've been better and I agree!
There are a lot of spoilers so I hope you've already read the manwha, okay?? I'll be writing down on what I think about the characters, and other matters. I'm doing this cause I can't sleep (✿^‿^).
Personally, I've always thought that MC would definitely end up with one set character and my eyes have always landed on Carsen for a whole obvious reasons, it already seems like the author of this was screaming for him. And not that I mind, cause I like Carson a lot more than the other 2. I do not know why...
I must say some of what he's done to MC is honestly weird, esp the hickey thing when MC was drunk? And we still aren't sure what brought Carsen to even be doing that, I mean he is a freak but God damn with no self restraint? Odd, very, and we don't see them further establish on it.
What I'm saying is some parts are wonky and rushed, like the one I said above, but this is the type of manwha where you just shut your brain off for awhile and go with the flow. Honestly, that's what I did since I became so INVESTED... I'm supposed to be asleep!
"Poly relationship" :
I want to establish my opinion on this. Personally, I do not enjoy the trope, I'm even glad they made him land on one guy, cause I don't even think MC would even think of that or let alone let it cross his mind. And he has already been clear with his thoughts of how he wants to get away with all of the MLs, sure he was flustered, embarrassed, or even uncomfortable: having a poly relationship would literally go against everything he's been desperate to do. I think the only person he's remotely even been willing to be close with was Carsen, as much as it is undeniably stupid.
And I think that It has already been established since he first met Carsen too that his heart would beat, in recognition mind you, where is soul is already familiar of Carsen, thus already foreshadowing/manifesting them being together in the end. Or maybe it's just cause Maythan.. okay I already forgot his name there, his soul is familiar to Carsen but it can go either way.
No, I do not like what Carsen has done to MC for most of the time, I can admit he's weird. Probably a lot more weirder than the other MLs but they all came from a Dating Sim so they were always meant to be this corny and weird.. Almost all of them has kissed MC straight away, If I remember correctly, the wolf ML.. yes I already forgot his name, yes I suck at remembering names... That guy, is the only person who even thought of asking MC. The others? Oh swoops you under your shoe and suddenly we're making out! (▰˘◡˘▰) DIABOLICAL... but I think if MC ended up with the other two, it wouldn't make any sense either way with the events going up to the ending, this way its a bit okay? Or you know what... They all didn't really have good chemistry going on. But for whatever reason, I liked Carsen. I can't even defend this guy, ok?
The wolf ML, was cute and sure he could probably be a wonderful partner for Mc but with their lack of time, and MC seems mostly disinterested in ML romantically other than the events happening surrounding his character within the game's plot, it just wouldn't be made possible.He's so pretty tho, don't get me wrong, I love him so so so much. That's my son.
The prince ML, I'm actually pretty proud of the obsession recognition in his behavior from MC but other than that, pretty much crickets from my side... MC has made it clear that he's uncomfortable of his tailing and other things, and the prince would be like ok he hates this so I'll do it in secret... Like hello? For some reason he has always given me this impression of the second male lead. MC outright rejects him in either life, atleast in the real world he seems less persistent in his approach. I don't like him, but I do feel bad for his character, and there could be a lot more done for him and for Wolf Mc too.
The mysterious duke ML, technically, this guy has always been screaming to me as the main ML, since the gem stone stall meeting. I'm not a fan of what he's done to MC cause what the hell... He acts like he owns MC like prince ML, has crossed MC's boundaries maybe a millionth time, and he's definitely the most indirect one of them all. But out of the three, he's the one who makes sense to me, I think it's because of the author's writing on his character and whenever he's put on. As much as I don't like him, I like him too, okay?? Lovehate relationship. He's like a cat, cold, and also warm then we just don't know where bro is going most of the time. He does cross MCs boundaries most of the time, but he's the cold and warm type.. wow.. so nice of him I guess.... But once he knows he's crossed the line, he backs away and gives the MC space, MC is usually the one thinking of him again or pulling him back in though.
"Transactional relationship between the endgame couple" :
I saw a comment saying their relationship is only built because Carson always needs MC; I wouldn't say their relationship is purely constructed as a transactional one because of the given situation Carson has with his power. MC does seem to lean more on Carson, It might just be me but I think it's pretty obvious he fancy's Carson a lot more than the others.
Carson is always near MC because he needs him to stabilize, but that's not the only reason, and you know that cause you've read the manwha ahahhaha..... It's evident that he's always thought of MC, his safety and like the other MLs: protects him, and he has done that for a lot of times even while MC didn't know who he was. He cares for him but shows it very differently like the rest of the ML. You know.. normal male lead stuff. Besides... His character is more like Sylus or somewhat similar. (I do not play the game but I know enough, and I think they're a little similar? Possessive, dark, fooling around, though Carson is more gloomy.) He doesn't just see MC as a means to an end, he sees him as a person he cares for the most after his mother, the closest person he's ever going to have in that world at that.
As for MC's end, I think he's definitely more comfortable to his advances, I think it's because of Maythan(?)'s subconscious mind being familiar and accustomed to Carson. More so, he definitely cares for Carson either way, I mean we know that's just the kind of person MC is but with the tolerance he has for Carson means a lot than a simple someone for MC. Even at the end, he admits he does have feelings for Carson. I mean seriously if MC was really that disinterested and more annoyed by Carson always stepping his boundaries, he'd already be showing more aggression by fighting back or kicking him out.
Basically, their dynamic makes sense to me. They didn't seem to be like they were going in a direction of just a poly relationship, something simple and established as their relationship now is more than enough to end it, even if it is questionable.. oh well atleast it's not borderline lost like jinx, ok.
Though I wished they could've deepened the bonds of every character in it, I must admit I did fall short on it as much as everyone else but you know what.. I'm satisfied cause my hunch was right heh.... And what's up w the Yuri and the Yaoi censorship, dang.... Oh well, I'll take what I can get with both. That sums it up!!
