honestly, when i started reading the manhwa i thought it was just going to be another toxic bl slop story, which like ok I'll admit to enjoying, but the novel sure did change my perspective on lots of things, including Wan's dad.
Wan is really unfortunate to have such a weak minded dad, but when the novel described that the dad got roped into gambling bc he wanted to earn money for his son, it made me p sad.... things aren't all black and white as they make it look like in the manhwa... Wan's dad wants the best for his son, but he's not good at being a dad....
I'm still early-ish (chapter 23) but having the characters thoughts more well fleshed in the novel really gives you a more indepth perspective of everything Wan goes through...
This story is not for those who cannot stomach abusive relationships, and to be honest my advice is to stay clear from it instead of reading just to complain in the comments.
