Imo the rape scene and the ones with the older guy are really meant to make the readers uncomfortable. No way did it look like goon material where the guy was enjoying it. Combine it with the situation with the older lady, I think author did a good job in making us feel the turmoil and the hopeleness of the MC. I actually felt very sorry and protective him. I hope the ML figures something out before MC goes into a darker headspace.
