I believe his only role left is to be completely rejected by FL, by doing so it's like she leaves her past behind and starts to look at the future, but author did it all out of order imo, since he isn't the only source of drama, we have ml's brother to worry about, and the black haired girl that was introduced recently, which are way more interesting parts of the story.
As for carrot, I think soon we will see FL telling him that it's over for real, and his new gf breaking up with him as well in front of everybody in the office.
Author did an awful job with carrot since from what we see fl's words are not reaching him at all, he is delululu af, and I have no clue how she will be able to end this toxic relationship with him, it will be hard for her to do without showing that she is actually in relationship with someone else, so first of all, ml must come back from his trip, and stand behind her when she rips carrot apart.
