Yeah I've been thinking about that too. The thought saddens me every time.
But I like to think that maybe when he reach a certain age, he'll stop growing, kinda like vampires frozen in time (physical appearance) since he's an alien. Or maybe he'll be reborn again, similar process to how he was born. Maybe something similar to immortal jellyfish? But that's also sad, because Van will grow old and die of old age and he won't. I don't know man. This is what I don't like about mortal/immortal or mortal/alien trope. The thought of one dying before the other hurts.
