Honestly, I thought bringing up his mom was one of the most creative moves in this whole arc. Obviously I'm NOT saying I agree with the way Taeseo operates or think what he's doing is okay lol. I'm just talking about the writing choice itself. I genuinely don't think I've seen this specific move in another manhwa with this kind of trope.
He already "punished" Yeomin's abusive father by having him sent to a psychiatric hospital, so bringing his mom into the story actually feels like a really interesting way to expand what Taeseo has been doing behind the scenes.
It's not even just random shock value. He's been trying to solve Yeomin's entire life for him, so of course his family getting dragged into it is a pretty natural escalation of that mindset. I've seen way more predictable shit in manhwas with this trope. THIS at least caught me off guard.
