Wow so many people are feeling the same as me. I go so misty eyed reading this chapter and remembering my pets. I had a dog with deep shiny black fur. I loved him so much, he was so sweet and friendly with us and really protective too. I loved him so much and he passed after a long (dog) life one hot summer. I felt so bad because I was out with friends that day, I wished I was there with him instead of going out, I knew he was old. My mom told me what happened when I was on my way home. My whole family was devastated for years. We would always cry while talking about him.
A few years later I was looking around in pet shops in my new area and saw a rabbit with that similar silky inky black fur. I was drawn to him and asked the shop keeper about it. They told me he was getting a bit too big to be there and would be sent to a shelter soon so I got him. He was just as sweet and lovable as my pup. A friendly bun who liked being pet and cuddled. I had him for 6 long years. Idk how old he was when I bought him but I learned his breed lived for 5-8 years. So I think he had a comfortably long life where he was loved and pampered.
No matter how long they're a part of your life, it's simply never long enough. I miss my little guys so badly. Idk if i could ever have another pet again. I want the companionship, but my heart will break again.
