it's similar to in "my possession became a ghost story" (another unreliable narrator story similar to this). the ppl in this word feel a primordial fear of Jio and his nature that they can't help but define as that of a monster or even a grotestque god. it's instinctual that they feel like there's no way Jio is human or has any humanity
I think Jio's already explained this before. It's a matter of "filter" when outside of the portrait, he's seen as otherworldly, that's why he's done multiple experiments on how to tone it down. When he's on his "priest filter", he's seen as kinda-human, warm-hearted, but still has a bit of divinity. When he's on his default "filter" which I suspect as "root/child of the system" he becomes this terrifying being, like how humans perceive the true appearance of an archangel.
I think it's the aura he gives off. He assimilated to the "root of the world" or something and became a being that surpasses human, so looking at him is extremely intimidating- like how you can't look at a God directly or you'll burn to death- that kind of feeling
Common in other forms of media. Like in Trench Crusade, angels can't descend on Earth because it's like they're walking nuclear bombs. They are fucking scary that there aura and pressure can kill a man.

So, reading it from the reader pov, I feel like that's a bit too much.
Human has a crippling fear of the unknown. We view it as kindness bc we see Jio's actual pov but when it comes to other's pure perspective, it's nothing but random and suspicious acts of an unknown being capable of being an equal to a god. One wrong move and they'd be done for. That's why every action Jio makes needs to be analyzed. Also Jio IS a monster. A creature of sum sort. An abomination of identities. Even if he harbors goodwill, his existence is that of an extraterrestrial being who js like being in human business on a whim, whose to say he'd do something absolute horror to humans bc he views it as helping them?. All of the others ppl response make sense. If I encounter Jio I'd shit myself in the pants lol. A
You have a point. But honestly, since I don't particularly believe in such existences and I found human to be more of a dangerous entity than any other existences ever existed in the world, I found it hard to relate.
But yeah, it's just a story, so I'll try to understand and broaden my mind that such reasoning exist.

It's not like he has history of massacring or harming humans.
And he never showed any intention of doing so.
But it seems like some wished he would do so just to push the definition of evil monster Could someone who understood tell me?
If there were flashback or history of the same being like Jio who caused destruction existed before and were told in the story, I'd understand their wariness.
But it's just been 31 years since the gate started and I don't think there were cases like Jio before if you are looking at the plot of the story.
