I wouldn't call this bdsm rep, its depicting an abusive relationship on purpose. There are other BLs that do follow BDSM protocol (to varying degrees of success with consent, but certainly better than this). You don't have to like this story at all but I think calling it BDSM is misunderstanding the premise. The story is centered on how MC's psychology changes to adapt to his environment. Abusive relationships can manifest in many ways, and this is one of them.
I do agree however the usage of BDSM themes and plays such as pet play, impact play and usage of bondage and toys repeatedly without consent does give it a misrepresented image of BDSM. I agree that, though it is not explicitly the genre, an air of sadism is in place with the ML as he has explicitly stated he enjoys seeing MC in pain. Furthermore, I also agree that it follows MC’s psychology, and the changing of it, however that doesn’t erase the method that induced that change— which is sexual torture, something that is usually related to or heavily associated with BDSM.
I know this is some fucked up version of pet play and shit, but media rep like this in general is what gives s&m relationships a bad name in general. They’re usually all about trust and consent. And what do I see a lack of? Both. Fucking both. Im tryna stay to see what jiwook did that pissed off ML so bad, but if it ain’t killing his mom or smth, I’m outa here, cause ain’t nobody deserve this. (Except pedophiles and rapists ig)
Also, ML BROKE HIS FUCKING PROMISE. “I won’t touch or hit you” MY ASS! MC was just raped. By multiple people. ML saw his aversion to touch in general and decided to fuck him after gaining his trust. I dropped this a while ago, back when chap5 or 6 came out because I was SUPER disturbed by ML and the premise. But I picked it up again to see the progression.
