I think there was a misunderstanding between them. We as viewers know that he feelings are real but someone like Auther(i spelled it wrong) he doesn't know that, he probably thinks she is after him for wealth by what she said to her friend when he first overheard it and i feel like he or someone that works for him overheard what she was talking about with her father and it caused misunderstanding or maybe he really did play with her bc it passed him off what she said so he "showed" her that she could get played aswell by a guy but the way he acted didn't seem like someone that was just playing with her.
Don't get me wrong i was surprised when she said how she felt and I felt something was going to go wrong bc it would be too short of a story but I didn't expect him to reject her, it pissed me off aswell

The issue here is that there were many ears and eyes judging them. Now they will be mostly "alone" if they want to clear misunderstandings, but it will be more difficult, at least I will feel more skeptical, I don't think I will trust Arthur a second time.
But oh well, the story looks nice, characters have some kind of depth, even mean characters have their stories as well. Let's see what happens.
