damn they both seriously need to see a psychotherapist…like not even as a “get therapy” insult. they genuinely both have psychological issues (and probably neurodivergency too) that they should identify and find coping mechanisms for.

regarding jaeha, i’m gonna guess he has some sort of superiority complex which stems from everyone constantly praising him throughout his life; always getting love confessions, top grades, good looks etc. that then most likely lead to him expecting attention from everyone around him, so that’s why he was confused when soomin was so indifferent towards him.

i’m not EXACTLY sure what type of praise it is, because my theory would make the most sense if it was praise about things he hasn’t worked for, or praise for things that he has naturally, e.g. appearance, good memory (for his grades), personality etc.

however, i should make a point that we don’t really see much of jaeha’s personal life and his backstory. we don’t know either of jaeha nor soomin’s parents and how exactly they both grew up.
i could be completely wrong, and jaeha mightve been neglected when he was younger, causing him to crave attention from anyone and everyone, no matter if it’s good or bad, solely because his parents/guardians never payed attention to him.
he could just be very neurodivergent and see all types of attention as positive (i hesitate to say that though because i’m not well versed in the topic of neurodivergency).

ahhhh i really wish we had more info on his life and how he grew up theyre both interesting characters so i wouldve loved if this was a much longer story where we see the intricacies of their unhealthy obsessions with attention and abandonment - how they gained them, how they dealt with it, and eventually how they overcome it.

i’m not the biggest fan of the ending tbh…because all they’re doing is feeding into their obsession. if they stay with each other forever, yes they’ll be ‘happy’, BUT they’ll never figure out why theyre like this, and they’ll never try to overcome anything. i can bet when theyre like 30-40 years old or so, they won’t be together anymore and soomin will just be incredibly lonely and depressed with no answer to why he is that way.
