The age gap was so unnecesary (plot wise) because Takumi doesn't even look or act his age during his interactions with Satsuki (￣∇￣"). Nothing in him really says he is the older one except for the fact that he drinks and smokes lmao Sensei could have easily made both of them be the same age and the premise of the story would work exactly the same ╮(￣▽￣)╭ Makes you wonder what exactly was supposed to be achieved when the age difference doesn't really add anything note worthy. I guess something was learned from here because Pittosporum is amazing.
