I'm not okay; this shit made me cry hard... it's been a while. I have so much sympathy and empathy for the current MC; however, I too would act the same if I were in the empress's or the ML's shoes. While I do not wish harm on the past MC, I do understand why they turned a blind eye to someone who was actively digging themselves into a hole. In this story, noble life is a matter of life or death and the survival of the smartest and fittest. To put it into better perspective, it's like trying to help a family member addicted to a hard drug. You cannot help them if they do not help themselves or strive to help themselves. While the previous-life MC is someone you are supposed to feel empathy for, she's also a character you are supposed to understand was beyond redemption in her past self. Her current feelings are valid, and the way she is doing things is understandable; however, the only reason we are able to show this empathy toward her is because she put in the work, changed, and understands her past mistakes.
