He wasn't but he had started letting Garam in by then.
It's a part of the professor's nature to be violent with the students he had. He was being a gentleman to her, scoring sponsorships, as opposed to the way he was rejecting Garam. And that happened even after he kind of accepted Garam. Then he'd try to soothe him again. He'd be confused why Garam was upset when he spent time with her.
I know no one's obligated to reciprocating someone's feelings towards them, but it hurts to know the professor did it out of loneliness and because he believed hatred would keep them together. It's the I-can't-reciprocate-I-am-doing-this-for-you-so-you-can't-leave-me factor that was really gut wrenching.
Soo. I'm on Ch 145 rn. And I just gotta talk a bit about how this has me feeling in general. it's so painful whenever the professor rejects Garam somewhere in the 100s. And even more so when he starts giving him some leeway in his romantic affection but at the same has sex with the sponsor. It's just the type of guy he is. The worst. It's devastating to me, really. And when others are interested in Garam, he's overcome with jealousy and fear and needs to mark him as his own. To top it off he's haunted by his previous manager and sort of projects him on Garam, not quite as a person but as a series of actions- growing tired of him, leaving him. And although I can sort of see him try to be better, there are too many things he can't change.
