You when someone has an opinion that differs from your own:
I’ve read all the classics you goober. I can acknowledge when a character is complicated and corrupt because they’re the antagonist but that doesn’t mean I have to like them or how the author chooses to write them. It’s not about the dark themes, i like unconventional/darker stories and characters. There are tons of authors who write stories with dark themes, characters, and concepts and I’m allowed to voice my opinion if I don’t like HOW they were portrayed or if I didn’t think they were entertaining to read.
And I never said I needed any disclaimers either. Once again it’s about the choices the author made with the characters that weren’t entertaining or satisfying to read. It was just frustrating. Pilgyeom didn’t become a better person and barely got a retribution. After all the shit he pulled, I have the right to be frustrated whether you agree or not
Thank you!!! I don’t mean to nitpick the story!! It had a lot of good points but I started to pull away from it when I noticed all of these things. If you’re going if to write a piece of shit antagonist then commit to that person being a piece of shit. Not saying a villain can’t be complex and likable in a way. But there aren’t any likable qualities of his character at all. I just see the author trying to minimize Pilgyeom’s shit behavior and then making a piss poor attempt to redeem him in the end as well as giving him a second chance that he did not deserve.

I also hate how it’s kinda clear the author likes that molester/rapist Pilgyeom.
I really hate when authors write irredeemable pieces of shit (mainly rapists and abusers) and then try to give them a “sob story” and attempt to persuade us into feeling empathy for them or try to minimize their horrible actions. Pilgyeom was a literal abusive psycho and deserved to suffer and die. I Hated that not only did we get an imagined rape scene of Soongap and then an actual graphic rape scene and somehow Pilgyeom gets to live after all of his abuse of Soongap?? Seeing so much Soongap x Pilgyeom content in this story was really disappointing and uncomfortable as well. I hate when authors write in a way that makes it very clear that they not only enjoy writing about sexual abuse of their characters but it’s also very clear that the author likes Pilgyeom and tries to make it seem like Pilgyeom really loves Soongap (by saving his life, sacrificing himself for him) when in reality, he was just obsessed with possessing Soongap
