Events following up to this were-
Shu looking at past dimension to save Corey’s family
Saves family then gets badly injured
Everyone’s trying to find info on the ppl behind the attack on Corey’s family
Lynes(whatever his name is) infiltrates the imperial palace to find clues but only ends up finding a box with a piece of the black dragon’s heart in it
He touches it and ends up with some black magic on him
Shu notices the black magic on him and absorbs it but missed a spot
Every since then the black magic has been cooking inside Lynes

Present- the black magic in him has finally reached what it is now and them touching that box has activated it
(If you couldn’t tell it made him take on the form of the first emperor who originally stole the heart)

I see, tysm! I couldn't tell since his form was completely different, I got confused.
