You got it! I actually only caught this myself when I went back and re-edited the chapter. When I first uploaded it, I had translated the “embracing” part a little differently, so the implication didn’t click for me at first. It was only when I looked into that line again while editing that everything started to make sense. You really have to connect all the little hints because they never outright tell you lol. I’m honestly impressed you pieced it all together so well!
I've read chapter 4 a few times to understand the break-up, with all the clues I've interpreted, and even it sounds so petty, it is because they are sexually incompatible. Both of them are bottoms.
Senpai said he now has someone who embraces him (in BL world, being the one embraced means you are the receiver). Hiroya also said he was sad "it didn't work out the way he wanted". And Senpai also was wondering how Hiroya and Hirari are "in bed".
It might sound shallow, but love isn't enough. If there are unmet needs, it can build resentment over time.
