I believe cause in these kinds of situations with kings ruling just executing the threat out the gate is not the way to win the hearts of your ppl, stay in the good graces of your servants and look merciful and humane to outsiders. That's really how they used to rule. There is always somebody who will replace the ones the king kills for treason. Then that person goes on the tell others and round up followers who believe their cause. Which makes another enemy of thr king and the battle for the throne starts all over again.

I never fully get why stories like these with unruly nobles don’t just get eviscerated out the gate. Like if we let the literal dragon Karas just kill them when Abel died so much would’ve been avoided. Cause congrats now he’s killing them, the whole kingdom and himself the slow way. The people don’t like Karas whether he obeys the council and straight up mercs them all. He’s a scary dragon overlord either way.
