I honestly have mixed feelings about the arc, but I don’t think the ending bothered me as much as it did other people. I completely understand being frustrated with the coworker because he was being genuinely ableist and treating Taichi unfairly. But I feel like the point of I Hear the Sunspot is bigger than just “bad person does bad thing, so they need to face consequences.” The story constantly focuses on understanding people, communication, and trying to see things from another person’s perspective. Taichi learning about his circumstances doesn’t excuse the way he treated him, but I think it explains why Taichi chose to respond with understanding rather than holding onto resentment. His apology doesn’t mean what happened was okay. To me, it felt more like Taichi recognizing that there was more to the situation than what he initially saw. I think that’s very in line with what the series is trying to say overall.
And as for the woman who thinks Taichi is attractive and wants him to work for her… I honestly just see that as a funny side plot LOL. They’re both adults, and people can obviously find other people attractive. I really doubt something will come of it.
