I don't read BLs, but this happens 9 times out of 10 in GLs too, and honestly as unrealistic as it might be I prefer it that way because I don't wanna see a straight couple in my queer romance. Not #heterophobic or anything, it's just when you read or watch literally any genre of a story there will ALWAYS be a straight couple or ten featured in there anyway, so why not have a billion queer couples in queer media, too? Just my personal opinion though.
