I think the person on the last panel is Tristan and they're both alive. When Ethan was in the brick of death, he gave him his blood and it turned him into a vampire too. I think that's what that guy was referring to When he said "you know what this mean, right?" As warning him it'll turn Tristan into a vampire too.
