The previous (or original) soul took medication that was still in the experimental stage (first chapter) and the drug caused the first soul to “die”, replacing them with the current soul occupying the body.

I'm pretty sure, a few chapters back there was a panel that implied he woke up in MC's body in a hospital. And I don't think he is a bad person but he was manipulated to do evil. (〜￣△￣)〜
