This story, other than just being extremely hard to read, and honestly making me sick to my stomach, is just SO unbelievably unrewarding. I guess I do like, to an extent, that it doesn’t romanticize what happens to someone who suffered the kind of sexual and drug abuse that the main character did.
Ironically for being a rape fetish story, this was one of the few stories i’ve read that actually showed the effects of trauma like this and didn’t try to pretend that it simply ‘didn’t happen.’ Is the story realistic? Sure. However, it’s still EXTREMELY unsatisfying.
What was it all for? All of the fighting and abuse just for the main character to get back with blondie just makes the ending feel so empty. And I just left it feeling extremely bad for the main character, seeming him go back to drugs over and over was so disheartening, there was nothing semi rewarding about this story.
I’m not saying it’s inherently bad storytelling, obviously the subject matter is disgusting, but the mc’s actions make logical sense given the psychological torture he endured, however, as a story, it makes for a pretty unsatisfying end.
Honestly, my ideal ending given the tone of this story would be to have the main character die in an overdoes, and we see blondie lose it after and ‘regret’ his decisions to an extent, because he wouldn’t have it trophy anymore. I feel like even that would have been more satisfying than what he got, at least then we would see blondie show SOME semblance of remorse.
