Money issues aside, what this ML really needs is a therapist, not a sugar mommy. Despite my soft spot for pitifully cute men, I find it problematic how fiction often romanticizes “fixer upper” men, especially when dating a “project” irl almost always ends badly for the woman. Remember, ladies, don’t judge a man by his potential—judge him by who he is in the present and how he acts. It’s not women’s job to fix broken men, and doing so will not automatically win their love and/or bring you happiness.
That being said, deconstructing problematic tropes irl doesn’t mean we can’t hold that awareness while still enjoying the trope within the safety and bounds of a fictional setting. I am still enjoying this title, and I hope they’ll work things out soon!!
