I cannot stress enough how bad I feel for Carlo. Liek, the thing that Lux did to him fucked his already fucked up mentality more. Idk about the novel since i havent read it, but manhwa Carlo is like a tragedy that was already predetermined to happen. The entire way his personalit was perserved screams of the choosen one not destined to be happy. Like, his existence was just there to make someone else happy. Dont get me wrong, i love my bboi Mikhail with all my stressful heart but fuck mannn, Carlo is just so tragic.
Ngl, i do not like Lux/Adrian (he has rhe same name as my first love so it was a shocker) but that just shows how good of a character he is, you can understand his rationale, his thinking, his everything but you cant stop to hate him and his actions. Kinda felt rushed tho, liek, not enough instrospection on his part but ive read comme ts saying he's much more human in the novel than in the manhwa.
The point is, Carlo is the unfortunate npc, whose existence is there to just push the story forward. And that realization, which i firmly believed zipped in his mind during the last battle was what truly broke him. That the being he loved, that the once pure love he felt was turned into an obsession that changed his entire life. That the person who looked him with disinterest now looked at him with a new emotion, regret and pity. That Lux was never something unattainable, that he wasnt someone incapble of love, just that, Carlo wasnt the reason for Lux to feel love.
