However I understand what you mean it still isn't an excuse fr since they were under the belief that he had everything the other princes had they probably felt no need to visit him, the queen from jealousy and the king thinking everything was fine as shown in this same chapter when he said the other family "took care of everything"
Deadass still isn't a good excuse on the king's part but I do understand to a certain point given their positions of power

It is true that there are MANY things the king could have done to watch over his son but I feel like the fact that he didn't showed that he 1: didn't have the time or money to allocate to a son he knows doesn't mean any harm to anyone
2: even if he did, he couldn't use such information
In many other stories the only thing gathering information no one else knows and are unlikely to believe is only used to ease the perosn conscious and the King was already under the impression his son was fine so he needed no more assurance than he already had before now because if he broadcasted that his son wasn't living in a proper environment befitting of a prince of his status then that would do himself nor his son any favors so he had no reason to do such a thing
The only people who ever sent spys or people to gather information so far have only ever done so to get something on the prince rather than to just check up on him innocently
I hope there's genuine effort in reconciliation and not just a quick change and everyone love him now, everything's good and we're acting like nothing happened because the shit I've seen happen to this kid is CRAZY ! I WANT CONSEQUENCES !!! REAL LIFE CONSEQUENCES NOT HALF HEARTED APOLOGIES !!!
