Isn't it because the ML is more of a scholar than a knight so he has long hair?? I mean in the early chapters, a dude did say that "If you become one of us, you'll have to cut your hair" smth like that

But let's be logical here guys
I know you guys don't like this new hairstyle but it is neccessary since he's a knight now and having long hair especially the bangs will block your view
