also if anyone has any qualms because theres a whole “you dont understand because you arent queer and grew up in conservative place” actually i am im bi and grew up in an extremely christian family and was literally banned from watching and consuming half media the average american grew up with. i cursed my own grandma out over gay rights and cut off my entire family and its been almost a decade since i moved across the country from them. so yes there are queer people who understand and still say its dumb. the reason why you dont see an issue with this is because either you didn’t read book 1 so you dont know why this is so jarring and dumb for the ukes character. or youre just a person who probably doesn’t make the smartest decisions yourself and saw yourself in the uke and youre upset people are calling him dumb or annoying. whicb i understand because nobody wants to feel dumb. but you cant “you dont understand queer media and you aren’t queer enough to have an opinion” your way out of every valid argument.

These comments talking about “you dont understand his issues because you dont understand the trauma” would only be valid if this was part 1 and people had these criticisms. The uke in this story is very stupid. And i think he was written this way for plot because it doesn’t make any sense.
1. The seme is the one who confessed to the uke without even knowing that the uke was gay. So the uke even considering or feeling swayed by Reo and Reos words saying “I bet you as a gay man confessed to the straight guy first and pressured him to accept”. Is fucking dumb because thats the opposite of what fucking happened in the first manga and the fact that the uke went along with it and didnt correct him and started feeling insecure is just poor writing. If this was book one and we knew nothing about the uke and semes past okay. But we all know thats not true.
2. The ukes issues with his own family again was resolved in the first manga. I can 100% understand him still being insecure about how the semes family might react. But stop using the excuse “oh hes on bad terms with his family and they didnt accept him”. YES THEY DID! Did y’all even read the first manga? His sister supported him and his parents did too but never got to tell him before they died. He only had the letter his mom wrote apologizing and saying how much they love him and learned to accept him through his sister advocating for him.
So to conclude. Yes the uke in this manga is annoying but not because of trauma. Its because the mangaka clearly had an idea in her mind of a story and needed to ignore the plot she created and dumb down her own characters to tell it. We need to stop acting like people not liking a character means they dont understand it and start just calling shit writing out because that’s exactly what this is. The managka needed to make the uke doubt his perfect relationship and the way to do that was to literally ignore the whole plot point of book one. Which was literally straight seme chasing over and having an seemingly unrequited love for gay uke. Of coirse the uke can feel insecure and not good enough. But he can never doubt the semes feelings when he was the one confessing to the uke and being rejected.
