having the avoidant attachment style isn't a good thing. if you treat your partner like he treated his (the uke & seme both suck), then you really need to stay single and figure out how to change that or just date someone else thats avoidant because it's not healthy. mugyeon shouldn't have had to chase him for so long for crumbs. they were together for 3 years and seowon couldn't even be friendly in public. thats not healthy and personally, mugyeon should've stayed broken up with him
your partner should not have to bear the brunt of your own selfish reasoning. with that kind of "love fades" mindset, you're better off not dating anyone at all. no one deserves to have a partner that barely gives a shits about you because of their own insecurities.
if you genuinely think that way, then save yourself and everyone else for that matter, and just don't date. what a selfish way of thinking

I feel like everyone is overreacting with the hate on this. As an avoidant attachment girlie, I totally understand why Seowon acted the way he did, and I think his character feels like a real person. It wasn’t exactly right how he treated Mugyeon, but I understand him. I get it because I’ve thought like that too. I don’t exactly believe in an “eternal love that never fades” just like him. I feel like no matter how much you love someone, feelings do fade or at least get duller. So he believes it’s only a matter of time before Mugyeon’s feelings start to fade and he gets tired of him. But Seowon DOES love him. Even if he didn’t want to admit it to himself or show Mugyeon much affection, he does love him. Seowon feels like he isn’t a good enough partner for Mugyeon and that he’s undeserving of his love. So instead of allowing himself to fully enjoy the relationship, he keeps himself emotionally distant because he thinks that if he never gets too attached, the inevitable ending won’t hurt as much. Which is such an avoidant way of protecting himself. It’s almost like he’s trying to protect himself from the heartbreak he believes is eventually coming. But the sad part is that by trying to prepare himself for Mugyeon leaving, he ends up creating the distance he’s afraid will eventually make Mugyeon leave in the first place.
And everyone hates the fact that it took a breakup and Mugyeon pulling away to finally get through to him, but I actually think it fits Seowon’s character. The breakup didn’t suddenly make him realize that he loved Mugyeon because he already did. What changed was that Mugyeon finally stopped chasing him and gave him the distance he had been creating all along. For the first time, Seowon had to actually FEEL what life would be like without him and face the possibility of losing him for real. I think that was what finally forced him to realize that he didn’t actually want the relationship to end, even though he had always been preparing himself for it. Mutton pulling away made Seowon confront his feelings. He had spent so much time preparing himself for the day Mugyeon would stop loving him that he never stopped to consider what he would do if Mugyeon actually left. So now he had to choose to actually hold onto Mugyeon himself instead of just waiting for Mugyeon to eventually stop choosing him. That’s what makes his development feel real to me. He figures out that love isn’t just something he has to wait to lose. It’s something he has to actively choose and hold onto.
So while I understand why people are frustrated that it took a breakup for Seowon to finally open up, I think it makes sense for his character because he needed to experience the possibility of losing Mugyeon before he could stop protecting himself from love and actually allow himself to have it. And the fact that Mugyeon still loved him despite all of that is just the cherry on top, because it directly challenges Seowon’s belief that love inevitably fades. He spent so much of the relationship assuming Mugyeon would eventually stop choosing him, only for Mugyeon to prove that he was still there when Seowon finally learned to choose him back.
