I think that was handled pretty well outside of Seoyun’s brother. He got introduced in such a dramatic way to be left off on the sideline. I also don’t know if I agree with how the family matters were treated. Seoyun’s mother made a choice that affected him his whole life, and it made sense for him to find out and cause a rift that would force her to realize that she caused lifelong harm to her son because of her own issues. I thought for sure this where that was going. This happens a few times in this story where something significant is brought up and then left to die. Seoyun made a big deal about his tail hurting, we hear his mother say she wanted it surgically altered to keep him “cute”, and then… nothing. It’s just a shame because it was the perfect metaphor for their relationship.

I’m also sad that their friends stopped existing after they started to date. I understand the author wanted to focus on the family stuff but friends are the people that help us deal with life’s anxieties. For a story focused on healing and bonding, it’s sad to see each character just isolate themselves further and further.

As for the siblings, I think that the brothers wouldn’t work together. Both of them fail to read the room lol. Taejun’s sister would be far more interesting in my opinion but I’m not sure if I even want that to happen. I didn’t care for Seoyun’s brother at all but I don’t think having him get romanced by Taejun’s sibling(s) would make him better.
