I'm a strong believer that author sabotaged the potential second ML and make him appear as "evil" so that we (as a reader) would be like, "yeah... Alright" with MC ended up with his kouhai (ML)
I think if we ever get a spin-off abt this second ML and we could see his POV, author-san will reveal that he was actually indeed in love with MC but they make him (second ML) turned evil so that he could left a "bad impression" and be done with his crush (the MC) and his now lover (the ML).
Trust!!! I've read thousands of manga and most of them time, they'll make the potential second ML or FL have an evil intentions or narrations like that where they actually aren't.
