Y'all. Let's put on our thinking caps before just straight up thinking Riftan is treating Maxi as property. Much more would need to be showcased for that to be the case

Like he definitely needs to realize she's coming into her own. But he literally just got her back after witnessing what she spent YEARS going through. And he's still anxious as hell thinking he's not good enough for her still. Like this relationship is still forming alongside with them both coming into their own

U know i read the novel till the this mage think I can definitely tell you he has treated her as property not very often but yes also the manhwa still have reduced his temperament to some degree but in novel is so violent and always take it out on her

I can definitely tell you that the scene where Maxi escaped and followed him to the war was heavily toned down in the manhwa. When Riftan realized she was there, he treated her more like his possession than an equal partner. The novel goes much further their arguments are harsher, and his behavior can come across as controlling and emotionally abusive. It genuinely feels like reading about a much older, toxic marriage dynamic.

Even after the mage arc and the four-year time skip, he still avoids her, creates misunderstandings involving the princess, and often takes his frustrations out on Maxi instead of communicating with her. A lot of his anger comes from his own inability to express his feelings, but that doesn’t change how he treats her. So if you’re expecting major personality changes from the ML, I’d keep your expectations realistic. The manhwa softens and makes him more likable, but in the novel he remains a much more difficult character to sympathize with.

Oh big yikes. I was hoping since their relationship was still new and she was just coming into her own that eventually it would smooth out. Damn. This is why I never defend men, cause even in literacy they are disappointing (-.-)
