Then returns, she gets beaten by her father so he gives him his comeuppance. Now she just pledged herself for 4 more years to save his name status (which he only accepted to marry her), without even consulting him. Basically he will be with her for only 6 months in the 8 years he will have been married to her. She doing it for him, in her dreams. He built everything himself, he slayed the dragon, he made himself a knight, he built Anatol, he needed to find a more grateful sovereign who would actually appreciate a legend. The Princess isn’t on Maxi’s side, she is just a useful tool that can keep Riftan to heel because she sure can’t. Even the King knows he could’ve lost Riftan if he steps out wrong.
