Jiwook (bottom) eventually recovers his lost memories of what he did to Juyeon (top) in the past. This realization breaks him mentally, as he has to reconcile his current suffering with the fact that he was once the monster.
When Juyeon is finally finished with his revenge and prepares to leave, Jiwook,now suffering from a form of Stockholm Syndrome and extreme fear of being alone or targeted by his former gang,begs Juyeon to stay.
The story ends with them trapped in a toxic, codependent relationship. Juyeon has successfully broken Jiwook, and Jiwook chooses to stay with his tormentor because he feels he has nowhere else to go.
I’ve been avoiding spoilers since the beginning of this novel and honestly I already knew it. It really gives me no satisfaction at all knowing that I was right. Sometimes I don’t mind toxic dynamics especially when it’s like 10 chapters but we’re on 50 and it’s painfully detailed
