The ending is bittersweet but it’s good. Tiberius loves Hadrius despite being the cause of his downfall but he tries everything to make up to him but they don’t up together.
He timeline is essentially that he becomes a sex slave after being Bestia secretly sells him off because he knows his son-in-law Tiberius loves him (also Bestia’s daughter dies). Once he is a sex slave he is purchased as a prostitute for he 2nd ML (Maximus) and they essentially fall in love and after squirting inside him a couple of times and because he’s peculiar in that Hadrius resembles mannerisms of a noble. Maximums asks Hadrius to come back to Rome 2 times, both times Hadrius rejects the offer because he knows he’ll probably be killed if he goes back and he doesn’t know whether Maximus is allied with Bestia (they’re not allied and they’re actually rivals of Lepidus (Bestia) vs. Julius clans (Maximus’s father clan)). Anyways, after Hadrius rejects him a 2nd time Maximus almost gives up but he thinks about it and decides is going to take him back anyways, but when he returns he finds out that the sex slave Masters (which Maximus and his army (Gallic Legion) punished for abusing Maximus and his mother) killed Maximus’s mother and brutally beat Maximus. Maximus then kills them all and saves Maximus and that’s when he learns that the cat masked person from the mask party from 4 years ago was actually Hadrius all along.
Hadrius recovers slowly after almost being beaten to death by the slave masters for a couple of months and returns to Rome for a Triumph festival held in Maximus’s honour for the Gallic Legion winning a battle and returning home after 7 years. This is where a mask party is held again and Tiberius finds out Maximus is alive after thinking he was dead in Gaul (the city where Hadrius was sex slave by the sex slave masters). But he learns this fact by watching Maximus have sex with Hadrius and learning that Hadrius is alive and is intensely jealous seeing Maximus pump his load into Hadrius. Tiberius then goes to Maximus’s estate the day after claiming that Hadrius is his slave by showing a slave registry and this is where Maximus learns that Hadrius is actually a fallen noble of Caesarean clan (I forgot the exact name). Tiberius goes to Maximus’s father to claim Hadrius back from Maximus by showing the slave registry and Maximus’s father (Julius) gives Hadrius back to Tiberius as a ploy to get Maximus to enter the Roman political arena to fight to get Hadrius back from Tiberius.
Tiberius then takes him back to the estate while telling Hadrius about what has happened over the past 4 years and how he still loves him deeply, but Hadrius thinks Tiberius is still scheming and can’t trust him anymore so he is skeptical for a while until he reunites with his old friend (Maecrius or something like that) where he tells him that Tiberius did look for Hadrius over the past 4 years. There is a long period where Tiberius tries to show Hadrius how much he still loves him but essentially a a cracked mirror can never be fixed and he’ll always remember their love but he can’t love bim now that he loves Maximus. Anyways there is a political clash between the Lepidus vs. Julius clan over who will rule Rome and essentially there’s just a lot of assassins and eavesdropping which eventually leads to Maximus taking back Hadrius. Then Julius asks Hadrius to tell publicly oust Bestia and expose his lies about his uprising and how he is a usurper and a snake. Hadrius accepts Julius’s proposal to oust Bestia and he announces it publicly however Bestia hires a gang to kill Hadrius but Maximus saves him but is also gravely wounded which leads to a coma for 4 days but he lives. Tiberius, before Hadrius made the public announcement, renounced his connection with Bestia and has been secretly been gaining evidence against him because he believes Bestia was the downfall between Tiberius and Hadrius. This comes in handy because he then works with Julius to bring down Bestia and expose his lies and he is essentially expunged from Rome to live in Judaea.
After all of this, Hadrius’s noble status and all of the families affected by Bestia’s uprising have their honour restored and the gain back some of their wealth. Also Bestia’s army (Haspinia army) loses against Maximus’s army (Gallic Legion) and all is well. In the end, Hadrius reunites with Tiberius and tells him that he’ll forever cherish the love they once had, but he is moving on with Maximus. With a last hope, Tiberius asks if he will ever to return to Hadrius’s place as his lover and Hadrius responds by saying that maybe someday when feels that he no longer loves Maximus but only until then.
The story also has side stories in the end but they’re not important to the story and essentially the life that Hadrius lives with Maximus’s family after everything is settled in Rome. To be honest, Maximus kind of weird because he rebukes these slave masters and all of the people who hurt Hadrius, but he kind of is not different because he bought Hadrius for sex for a like a month and was going to discard him for better sex slaves before he developed feelings for Hadrius. But that’s just my opinion, a lot the characters are morally grey and I didn’t really like any of them except for Hadrius’s friend, he’s a real one ┑(￣Д ￣)┍.
