You can skip it but i suggest you read it coz it was quite fun lol. The reason why Josh wants to kidnap Grayson is to take revenge for his man who was bullied/abused by Grayson growing up which left him trauma. Josh wants to have conversations (beat him) with Grayson

(From what I read from early chaps of this) Even though I've never read kiss me if you can, I still have a very soft spot for chase idk i just saw some edits or some panels of him and josh..

Yes they are indeed brothers but if you can recall from the previous chapters, Grayson has a hard time dealing with emotions and does this thing which he thought is the right way of helping because he doesn't know better. In KMIYC, Grayson was the one who caused chase's trauma that led him to be cold hearted, afraid of his own pheromones, and distant towards his own family. It's one of the main plots of the story that's why many people who have read that first is shocked to see the Grayson here. And for the parents, they are indeed good. They're not bad especially Koi. He's such a cute potato (when you read their novel, it was very wholesome and adorable. It only went downhill slightly in the timeskip but nonetheless they are a lovely couple).
But maybe because raising 6 dominants kids must be one of the reasons. Ashley also suffered a brain damage caused by his pheromones that's why he's particularly strict about it. Koi might be lovely and all but I do think he lack the courage to talk to his kids now that they're grown up. Ashley won't let him talk to them if he's not present and there's a reason but I won't spoil it :)) so overall, neglection might be the main reason (in my opinion).
