I genuinely felt the same with Omerta with how much timeskip the author put there
IMO, the author kinda has to handle the story this way. Like, what you’re saying is definitely fair, but a manhwa that updates every 10 days is a whole different situation. The author isn’t just working on the story itself, they also have to figure out how to actually turn all of that into a comic/manhwa/manga.
And idk if you’ve ever worked on comics before, but there are so many things you have to consider when adapting a story visually, and sometimes you just have to let certain parts of the original story go because they either don’t work as well visually or would just be way too much to put into a comic.
Personally, I LOVE slow burns, and I’ve been following this manhwa since chapter one. Yeah, it’s taken forever and basically nothing has happened between them, but I’m actually pretty happy with the progression of things. Not necessarily the pacing, lol, but the progression itself. Instead of feeling like they’re dragging things out just for the sake of the story, the things that have happened between them have actually felt pretty natural and logical to me.
I’m sorry, but I’ve seen so many people get dogpiled just for sharing honest critiques of this story. Granted, it’s still fresh, but there is a big difference between a rewarding slow-burn and frustrating breadcrumbing (or a total lack of narrative direction).
With genuinely great slow-burns even when the romance takes forever we still get deep character insight right away. We connect with the leads because the chapters have substance, and the pacing serves the emotional development. But here? It’s just endless time-skip after time-skip, and then... what? In the many slow burns i read they a lot of the times show those moments apart and not just .. time skipping... besides the time skipping for the age like it leaves me curious to how they're holding up when theyre not together yk? Not js the time after they've already spent time away..
I’m saying this as someone who lives for slow burns. I’ve happily stuck out 300+ chapters of a painstaking slow-burn just because the payoff was earned. But if the pacing leaves no room for actual connection, it stops being a slow burn and just feels hollow.
Does anyone else feel the same?"
