I've actually finished reading this a while ago but back then i was too sad about the ending to be objective, now i'm here to say what's in my mind.
You know, Kyouji is a really really irresponsible person. This guy changed satomi's life since he was 14 and is trying to turn a blind eye to how much his actions affects satomi. He knew full well of satomi's romantic feelings and attachment towards him, but never chose to either draw a clear line or just embrace his own feelings and accept him. He gave mixed signals the whole time. What was that "what do you want me to be?" or "i'll be with you until you don't need me anymore" thing? Kyouji piss me off so much lol. I both love and hate him.
Kyouji is really interesting to me, he's like this because he knows that it's bad for him to be around satomi, yet at the same time he couldn't bring himself to leave and be away from satomi like that. This is also apparent back in karaoke iko, when kyouji met satomi in the airport. It was the turning point for them as we see in famiresu iko. At that time, kyouji knows satomi shouldn't have a guy like him hanging around, he said it himself. But despite knowing that he chose to approach satomi in the airport after being away with him. Why? Because kyouji himself wants it. He saw satomi innocent self getting attached to him, saw how sweet and cute he was while trying to put up a strong exterior, saw satomi singing his favorite song in his stead in a place full of yakuza because he thought he was dead. He couldn't bring himself to leave satomi because he was also getting attached to satomi, and in famiresu iko, couldn't bring himself to outright address the elephant in the room and reject satomi.
Kyouji is irresponsible and selfish. But one thing he did manage is that he restrained himself, for the better or worse, i don't know. As people have said, kyouji is an avoidant final boss hahah. Poor satomi, the ending is still open ended, i think it can still be interpreted differently. I hope satomi will be happy no matter what, whether with kyouji or not. However as a kyosato shipper myself i hope they will be together XD.
