I'm not OP but the same way Ilwoo left his town. It's gonna suck financially and theyd miss a school year, but staying there with that piece of crap will not end well. If they stay and resist him, he'll go after Ilwoo and I wouldnt put it past him to mess him up seriously to get Baekhee to oblige. If they stay and Baekhee continues being his bitch, he aint ever getting out of his clutches and even if he eventually does he will be a shell of himself.
I know this is gonna be an unpopular opinion, but I'm glad that Il-Woo saw the terrible state of him. Yes, he also has his own severe mental issues to work through, but Baekhee immediately needs a WAKE UP CALL and maybe Il-Woo can do that for him right now. Any more self-deprecating defeatism living like a puppet for that rapist psycho and it's gonna be extremely difficult to EVER see himself as an autonomous person with agency.
I wish Il-Woo pushes through all the self-defenses he sees on the surface of Baekhee's behavior and words and helps him to face reality and make a choice without the overwhelming shadow of his father and the rapist, if Il-Woo gives him even a little bit of encouragement that he can get out of there without sacrificing himself in the process. Even if it's temporary clarity and a semblance of hope, it can act as an incredibly powerful motivation to take the leap Baekhee was too scared to try out of fear of failure. Of course there would still be difficulties, but holding on to that hope and getting distance ASAP could be the most helpful thing they can do right now.
