I agree with all the recent comments. I swear Checkmate speaks to my soul and it genuinely changed my life. Checkmate is my standard for any psychological BL and I love how the plot unfolded and the characters developed. Soohyun in particular had a very interesting character arc, as he had to learn the fact that the object of his long term hostile obsession was ultimately a human who had imperfections and shortcomings like himself. He wasn't a God or king to topple or overthrow, he was a living breathing human who could succumb to stress and pressure like anyone else. I loved seeing Eunsung's layers unravel and how patient and protective he became of Soohyun as time passed. Nothing beats their dynamic for me. If TAN would bless us with even scraps of new Checkmate content or a new series entirely I would weep tears of joy. So far nothing comes close and therefore nothing can fully fill the gaping hole Checkmate has left in my heart. All I can do is continuously reread this every so often. I'm a sucker for obsessive possessive codependent intimacy and I can relate to Soohyun in some aspects, especially his flaws. This is all over the place but I love Checkmate. PLEASE TAN I NEED THIS. Also I swear Brianstorm by Arctic Monkeys fits Soohyun and Eunsung so well
