The reason why this new season is receiving more negative feedback than on average is the fact that the main plot for this story never really gave that it was going in this direction. Yes there was mentions of homophobia, but it didn't go in the direction of kidnapping, rape, and blackmail. Readers wouldn't have such issuse if this type of plot was found in a more toxic/darker manhwa where such plot devices are expected.
I would also like to mention how this new season feels so last second or like a cash grab because it basically is an another ending to the already completed story with such a large year gap between both. Personally if I was the author's editor, I would've shot the idea down because of the image/reputation the manhwa has curated for years or at least convinced the author to create a different story where they can experiment with these darker themes with much less reprocussions.
