Both has wattpad vibes but shutline at least has a semblance of reason behind everything that is happening. Flashlight's plot on the other hand is laughably bad, the characters rarely behave in ways that make sense, and im 100% if the art wasn't that good, it wouldn't have been half as popular.
Shutline came before flashlight, from the get go, shutline's was leaning more into action, attraction, romance. Flashlight was a bit on the melodramatics and it's trying to outdo itself for every progression/regression of the plot.
You know a story has solid foundation when the hiatus hits and as soon as it comes back you don't forget even the insignificant details.
Yeah, maybe thats why i have a hard time remembering the plot of flashlight. (￣∇￣")

LOL, yeah i think i only read a few chapters of flashlight, plot wasn't doing it for me. I'll admit i stayed a bit for the fwop arts tho (▰˘◡˘▰)
Honestly now i can see why some people prefer shutline over flashlight. It has better plot and development, and their characters are more diverse too..
