I think the discrepancy in the comments is caused by how different this series is in the first two seasons compared to the third. It used to be comedic and wholesome in tone, and the color pallete and art style reflected that. The third season is very different in art style, presentation, and general atmosphere, and the mood has shifted to angsty, dramatic, and slow burn romance. The frequent hiatus doesn't help this, hence the complaints got louder and louder.
While it's understandable, one thing I disagree with many commentors is the drop in quality. While this series is far from perfect, the character writing remains immaculate. It may take more patient to appreciate it as we are being fed bread crumbs per chapter. Marinating this is actually a great idea for those who are more impatient.
I've been checking the latest chapter to see how far things are going and read the comments and apparently people are fighting about slowburn and all? I found it kinda hilarious, but personally I do find long series with slow pacing and characters pining & yearning as slowburn. I don't even understand how some people think that yaoi smut series couldn't be a slowburn bcs I'm still eating turning with its 1,4k+ chapters containing slowburn and very intense smut scenes too. Yes, I do think it's hilarious to complain that slowburn is slowly burning, but I think people are also free to feel frustrated bcs of the slow pacing drama, like asking when it's going to be over lol. Personally, I decided to marinate this series bcs I'm too tired to keep up with the never-ending drama and I know I'm gonna enjoy reading all of them in one sitting when everything is over
