Probably just freeing his soul from the mountain deity. I don't have the chance to read the raw so this was only my theory, i mean the main story already finished there...

I sorta get what’s happening…maybe? His hyung died on the mountain that day but his soul is trapped by the mountain deity unless he can get another one to take his place. My question is, if he gets another soul, does he come back to life? Or is it just that his soul will then be free?
